Oncology Rehabilitation
Oncology rehabilitation may involve multiple disciplines to address symptoms associated with cancer and cancer treatment. Patient education plays a critical role in oncology rehabilitation. Patients are empowered to learn skills to manage their condition and physical symptoms associated with an oncology diagnosis and treatment.
Treatment may address:
Fatigue
Pain
Decreased function of the body’s elimination system
Scar tissue formation & skin changes due to chemo and radiation
Chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairments (chemo brain)
Swallowing difficulty and changes in vocal quality and/or loudness
Treatment may involve:
Postural re-training
Therapeutic exercise
